Dipl.-Ing. Lukas Olawsky, development engineer at ALOtec Dresden, will give a lecture on “Enhanced Flexibility in Direct Laser Interference Patterning through Industrial Robot Integration” on June 13.

Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) is a method for surface functionalization, enhancing properties like friction, wetting, and bacteria repellence. Traditional DLIP methods use translational stages or scanners to move the laser or component, ensuring high speed and precision. However, these methods struggle with heavy 3D parts, such as forming tools, limiting their applications. This study introduces a new DLIP approach using an industrial robot for greater flexibility in treating large, complex components.

Miniaturization and high precision are rapidly becoming requirements in many industrial processes and products. As a result, there is greater interest in the use of laser micro fabrication approaches to achieve these goals. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for discussion of fundamental aspects of laser‐matter interaction, the state‐of‐the‐art of laser materials processing, and topics for the next generation with fundamental scientists, end users and laser manufactures.
