Final acceptance passed – WAAM system handed over to BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg

The collaborative WAAM robotic system has passed its final acceptance testing and has been officially handed over to the Chair of Joining and Welding Technology at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Two collaborating Reis Robotics robots (KR120 R3100) operate in master-slave mode on the same workpiece. Together with two linear units and a rotary tilting table, this results in 16 synchronized axes. Welding is performed using Fronius technology – two iWave systems and one TPS/i TWIN with PMC and CMT functions.

The facility is part of the SpreeTec neXt research cluster and provides a platform where new processes, materials, and geometries for additive manufacturing using WAAM can be tested directly on actual components.
